Ultrasonic Leak Detector PCE-LDC 15 | Gas Leak Detector, Ultrasonic Testing Device & Refrigerant Leak Tester for Compressed Air, Steam and Vacuum Systems
The PCE-LDC 15 is a handheld ultrasonic leak detector for maintenance teams, energy auditors, HVAC and refrigeration technicians, and plant engineers who need to find leaks quickly on live systems. It works as a gas leak detector, an ultrasonic testing device, and a refrigeration leak tester in one instrument, operating at a working frequency of 40 kHz (± 2 kHz) to pick up the ultrasound produced wherever gas escapes through a leak in compressed air, gas, steam, vacuum, and refrigeration systems, as well as around door seals.
Escaping gas creates turbulence that is mostly above the range of human hearing. The PCE-LDC 15 collects that ultrasound and shifts it down into audible frequencies, so the operator hears the leak through the supplied headphones. The same instrument covers compressed air, gas, steam, vacuum and refrigeration systems as well as door seals.
Locating Leaks at a Distance and Up Close
Two attachments cover the full search. The sound horn gathers and focuses incoming ultrasound, acting as a directional microphone that helps suppress surrounding noise while you sweep pipe runs and fittings from a working distance. For close-range work, the straightening tube with tip is also included. An integrated Class 2 laser pointer (630...660 nm, <1 mW) marks where the PCE-LDC 15 is aimed.
Working in Loud Plant Environments
The supplied soundproof headphones let the PCE-LDC 15 be used in extremely noisy surroundings. A 3.5" color TFT touch panel handles operation, and a 3.5 mm jack plug connects the headphones.
Built for Full Shifts
An internal 7.4 V lithium-ion battery provides more than 10 hours of continuous operation and recharges in a maximum of 4 hours using the included mains power adapter. The PCE-LDC 15 is rated for operation from -5 to +50 °C (23 to 122 °F) at <95% RH, non-condensing, and the instrument weighs 0.55 kg (1.2 lb) with preamplifier and horn. The complete kit ships in a carrying case weighing 3.0 kg (6.6 lb) in total.
