Class 1 Sound Level Meter PCE-432 with GPS: Data Logging Noise Level Meter, Sound Level Data Logger & Condition Monitoring Instrument

The PCE-432 is an accuracy class 1 sound level meter that doubles as a GPS-enabled sound level data logger, built for acoustic consultants, environmental health and safety teams, occupational hygienists, and maintenance engineers who need defensible noise data from the field. It measures from 22–136 dB(A) across a 3 Hz–20 kHz frequency range, applies A, B, C and Z frequency weightings, and tags recorded data with location information from its integrated GPS receiver.

Readings appear on a backlit 160 x 160 pixel LCD as numbers, a bar graph, or a graphical trace, so you can follow levels in real time while the PCE-432 logs to its 4 GB micro SD card. PCE lists the meter as meeting IEC 60651:1979, IEC 60804:2000, IEC 61672-1:2013, ANSI S1.4-1983 and ANSI S1.43-1997, and also lists GB/T 3785.1-2010 and GB/T 3785.2-2010.

Environmental, Workplace & Machine Noise Studies

The measuring functions cover sound pressure level, equivalent continuous level (Leq), SEL, sound exposure, max, min and peak values, plus statistical levels from 1–99 %. Fast (125 ms), Slow (1 s) and Impulse (35 ms) time weightings are available, and an adjustable alarm flags exceedances on site. That combination suits community and environmental noise monitoring, workplace noise assessments, and condition monitoring of machinery where a change in acoustic signature signals wear.

Octave Band Frequency Analysis

The PCE-432 ships with a 1/1 octave band filter covering 8 Hz–16 kHz. For finer frequency resolution, PCE offers a firmware upgrade to a 1/3 octave band filter, which extends analysis to 6.3 Hz–20 kHz and increases the display from 12 bands to 36 bands, with individual thresholds configurable per band. The upgrade is sold separately and is not part of the standard delivery.

Unattended Logging & Data Transfer

Set the logging interval anywhere from 1 s to 24 h to match the length of the study. Stored data can be transferred over USB (mass storage) or with an SD card reader and evaluated with PC software (a free download), and an RS-232 interface plus AC and DC voltage outputs support connection to external recording or control equipment. The meter runs on 4 x 1.5 V AA batteries for a minimum of 10 hours of continuous use, or from the 12 V / 1 A power plug or 5 V / 1 A USB for longer deployments.
