The PCE-900 is a handheld Leeb rebound hardness tester built for rapid, non-destructive evaluation of metallic components in the field, on the shop floor, and in goods-inward inspection. Nine pre-calibrated material presets and six hardness scales make the PCE-900 a compact, all-in-one metal hardness tester, material hardness tester, metal hardness testing durometer, and surface testing instrument for condition monitoring and incoming quality control.
Shipping with a standard Type D impact probe, the PCE-900 measures on a primary range of 200–900 HLD and converts directly into Rockwell C (20–68 HRC), Rockwell B (13–99 HRB), Brinell (20–655 HB), Vickers (80–940 HV), and Shore (32–99 HSD). Accuracy is ±0.8% at HLD = 900 with repeatability of 1.10%, giving technicians the consistency needed for acceptance testing, heat-treat verification, and supplier audits.
At 142 × 77 × 40 mm (5.59 × 3.03 × 1.58 in) and roughly 130 g (under 1 lb), the PCE-900 slides into a tool pouch and runs on four standard 1.5 V AAA batteries, equally at home in a QC lab, on a construction site, or next to installed machinery that cannot be moved to a benchtop tester.
Switching between carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steel, cast iron, and the other supported alloys is a single menu selection on the PCE-900. The 12.5 mm (0.5 in) backlit LCD keeps readings legible in low-light environments, and up to 50 data sets can be stored in internal memory for later review and documentation.
An RS-232 interface links the PCE-900 to a computer, and PCE's optional PCE-900 software (sold separately) streams measured values live to the PC for logging, reporting, and trend analysis, a useful upgrade for teams building a condition-monitoring workflow around the instrument.
The PCE-900 operates from -10 to 50 °C (14 to 122 °F) and tolerates relative humidity below 90%. The included carrying case, test block, support ring, and cleaning brush keep the Type D impact probe protected and ready between measurements.
