High-Precision Accelerometer PCE-VT 3850 — Vibration Analyzer & Condition Monitoring Meter with ISO 10816-3 Evaluation

The PCE-VT 3850 is a portable, full-featured vibration measurement instrument — functioning as accelerometer, vibration analyzer, and condition monitoring meter in one handheld device — engineered for on-site inspection of rotating machinery, industrial plant equipment, and mechanical drive systems. Equipped with a high-sensitivity external sensor, this handheld meter simultaneously captures three critical vibration parameters — displacement (up to 3.9 mm / 0.154 in), velocity (up to 399.9 mm/s / 15.74 in/s), and acceleration (up to 399.9 m/s² / 15,744 in/s²) — giving maintenance professionals a complete picture of machine health in a single session.

A standout capability is the built-in automatic evaluation per ISO 10816-3. The instrument applies a pass/fail assessment directly on its 2.8″ color LC display, allowing technicians to instantly classify a machine’s vibration severity without manually referencing standard lookup tables. Available measurement parameters include RMS, peak, peak-to-peak, and crest factor.

Beyond basic measurement, the PCE-VT 3850 offers built-in FFT analysis (acceleration: 10 Hz–8 kHz; velocity: 10 Hz–1 kHz) with 2,048 lines of resolution, as well as rotational speed measurement from 600 to 50,000 RPM — valuable tools for diagnosing imbalance, misalignment, bearing wear, and gear-mesh faults.

Data Logging & Route-Based Measurement

The integrated data logger supports configurable start/stop triggers with intervals from 1 second to 12 hours across 50 storage locations, each holding up to 43,200 readings. For planned inspection rounds, the route measurement function accommodates up to 100 routes, each with 100 machines and 100 measurement points per machine — each point storing up to 1,000 values. Manual storage provides 99 folders with 50 readings each.

Recorded data transfers to a PC via the micro-USB interface. The included analysis software provides graphical and tabular views, CSV export for further processing, and firmware update capability.

Built for the Field

Powered by an internal 3.7 V / 2,500 mAh lithium-polymer battery, the PCE-VT 3850 delivers 15–20 hours of continuous operation depending on display brightness. The instrument weighs just 239 g (8.4 oz) and measures 165 × 85 × 32 mm (6.5 × 3.3 × 1.3 in), making it comfortable for extended inspection shifts. The included headset (3.5 mm jack) enables audio monitoring of bearing noise and mechanical anomalies.

Operating conditions span −20 °C to +65 °C (−4 °F to 149 °F) at 10%–95% RH (non-condensing).
