The PCE-RT 2200 is a compact surface roughness tester and portable profilometer for quality inspectors, machinists, and lab technicians who need fast, repeatable surface finish checks in the workshop or the lab. Its 5 µm (197 µin) diamond stylus measures Ra, Rq and Rc from 0.005–16 µm (0.2–630 µin) and peak and valley parameters such as Rz and Rt from 0.02–200 µm (0.8–7,874 µin), with results shown on a large OLED display.
A DSP chip handles instrument control and signal processing, keeping measurements quick while drawing little power from the rechargeable Li-ion battery. PCE specifies measurement accuracy of <±10 % and repeatability of <6 %, and lists ANSI B46.1/ASME B46.1 (DIN EN ISO 4287) as the applicable standards.
Choose from 21 surface parameters: Ra, Rq, Rsm, Rsk, Rz, Rt, Rp, Rv, Rc, Rmax, Ry (JIS), Rz (JIS), Rp (ASME), Rpm (ASME), Rv (ASME), R3z, R3zmax, Rz1max, Rmr(c), Rdc and Rmr. That range lets one instrument answer drawing callouts written to different conventions, and readings can be switched between µm and µinch to match the customer's specification.
Three cut-off wavelengths, 0.25 mm, 0.8 mm and 2.5 mm (0.01, 0.03 and 0.1 in), cover fine to coarse finishes, with scanning speed matched to each: 0.135 mm/s at 0.25 mm, 0.5 mm/s at 0.8 mm, and 1 mm/s at 2.5 mm. The inductive pickup travels up to 15 mm (0.59 in) and returns at 1 mm/s (0.04 in/s). Maximum recommended force for static measurement is 4 mN (0.4 gf).
The included positioning device makes it practical to measure small samples, and the calibration plate and roughness standard support routine checks between jobs. The PCE-RT 2200 saves 20 measurement runs with all parameters to internal memory automatically. Review stored results on the OLED display, or transfer them to a PC through the micro USB interface for further analysis and reporting.
